Dog and Cat Grooming
At Animal Behaviour Coaching, your pet is taken care of by a qualified veterinary nurse who uses species-specific pheromones, positive reinforcement, and low-stress handling techniques to make your pet’s grooming visit as low-stress as possible. We offer many grooming services, as detailed below:

Additional Information:
Your dog will still be damp after a towel dry. If you'd prefer your dog to be blow dried, please book this as an additional service. We do not routinely blow dry pets after grooming as many of them are scared of the blow drier. If you are interested, we can work with your pet to desensitise them to the blow drier over a number of sessions, as well as give you some advice on training you can do to help at home.
If your pet is matted, has a very thick coat that requires significant de-moulting, requires extensive brushing prior to clipping or trimming, or requires an assistant due to its behaviour, additional charges may apply.
Concerned about how your pet will cope throughout the grooming process? Please talk to us so we can discuss desensitisation and handling techniques you can practise at home prior to your pet’s groom. Veterinary assistance is available if required.
Unsure of how much it will cost? Please ask our friendly staff and they can provide you with an estimate.
Expression of your dog or cat's anal sacs is only indicated if your dog is having issues with its anal sacs, such as regular impaction. The main signs of anal sac impaction include scooting (dragging bottom along ground), licking anus, and/or anal sac leakage.
Some dogs have hairy ear canals, which can trap water and foreign material (such as grass seeds), predisposing them to ear infections. Dr Emma does not recommend plucking your dog's ears unless they have an issue or it has been advised by your veterinarian. The plucking process can create inflammation, which can also predispose your dog to an ear infection.
* If veterinary assistance is required at any stage, you will be charged the Veterinarian fee for that particular service (eg nail clip, anal sac expression, ear pluck). If your pet requires a veterinary consult, this will be first discussed with you and additional consultation charges will apply.
Example plan for "Get into the Groom" Block of 4 Sessions:
1st Session: familiarisation with groom room, staff, being on the table, entering the wash trough, and possible introduction to brush/clippers/scissors
2nd Session: progression with brush/clippers/scissors, introduction to nail clippers, introduction to water sounds
3rd Session: attempt partial groom depending on the breed-specific needs, progression of nail clipping, progression of bathing, introduction to blow drier
4th Session: aim is to finish off groom and bathe your pet, however this will depend on your pet's progress
For best results, it is recommended that sessions are booked 1-2 weeks apart.
